We investigate three-dimensional rolled-up metamaterials containing opticallyactive quantum wells and metal gratings supporting surface plasmon polaritionresonances. Finite-difference time-domain simulations show that by matching thesurface plasmon polarition resonance with the active wavelength regime of thequantum well a strong transmission enhancement is observed when illuminatingthe sample with p-polarized radiation. This transmission enhancement is furtherincreased by taking advantage of the Fabry-Perot resonances of the structure.
